On 5th May 2016, I was the Welsh Liberal Democrat National Assembly Candidate for both Carmarthen East & Dinefwr and also the Mid & West Wales Region.

In the 2011 - 2016 National Assembly, I was the Assembly Member for the Mid & West Region. I was also the Welsh Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for the Environment, Sustainable Development & Rural Affairs.

    The Welsh Liberal Democrats have long supported the Swansea Tidal Lagoon, it is to our disappointment that the UK Government refuse to do likewise. These latest proposals should be fully considered to see if they're another way to secure support for this vital project.

    The Swansea Tidal Lagoon has the potential to make Wales a world leader in green energy, create thousands of skilled jobs across Wales and play a major role in helping us combat climate change.

    Throughout our history, the Liberal Democrats have lead the way on green issues. The 1979 Liberal/SDP manifesto called for a "war on waste and pollution" and highlighted "the need to reserve the natural environment for future generations."

    Forty years later, our 2019 European manifesto is no less radical. Just last week, Vince Cable announced our commitment to campaign for an EU-wide ban on fracking.

    Theresa May got up and gave another Brexit speech earlier and confirmed what we already knew. She's going to put the Withdrawal Agreement Bill to Parliament - with some minor changes.

    Amongst those, she offered a vote on a People's Vote - but only if the bill passes its second reading.

    Liberal Democrats are clear. We want to stop Brexit. We won't vote for any deal that doesn't promise to give the people the final say.
