William Powell AM on his first week in the Assembly

Gan William Powell

William Powell AM talks today about his first week as Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales.

Commenting Mr Powell said: "It's certainly been a busy week with a lot to take in but I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

"But now it's time to get stuck in. I'm really looking forward to hitting the ground running and providing a strong voice for the people of Mid and West Wales here in the Assembly.

Mid and West Wales is a vast, beautiful region with a lot to offer. Its rurality is something to be celebrated and needs to be preserved, whilst still benefiting from the best possible services, whether it is better broadband, faster ambulance services or improved public transport.

"I am also keen to support development of the rural economy, regeneration and sustainable tourism in the region by working closely with local authorities and National Parks.

"The Welsh Labour Party has chosen to go it alone and my Welsh Liberal Democrat colleagues and I will be there every step of the way to ensure that the Government is held to account.

"I hope that without a working majority the Labour Government will be more willing to listen to and work with other parties to deliver the government the people of Wales deserve."
