William Powell Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales has today welcomed the news that Philip Hammond, the UK Government Transport Secretary is looking again at 'modernisation plans'.

The Milford Haven Coastguard Station was one of ten that faced closure.

Commenting, Mr Powell said: "I am pleased to see that the UK government has listened to the strong campaigns against the closure and decided to look again at the plans.

"The station in Milford Haven is vital to the coastguard service operating properly and closing the station would put rescue staff under immense pressure.

"As newly elected Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales I will make sure that this situation is monitored and I will campaign strongly against any closure."
