William Powell AM supports call for contributions to the ‘Powys Economic Growth Zone Consultation’

2012 Mai 22 4:59 PM

William Powell, Welsh Liberal Democrat Rural Affairs Spokesperson, has called on residents and businesses in Powys to contribute to the Powys Economic Growth Zone Consultation currently underway by the Welsh Government.

William Powell, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, said:

"These proposals - for Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and Newtown,- designed by the 2008 - 2012 Powys County Council, have the potential to make a significant positive impact on the economy of Powys over the coming years.

With a County as large and diverse as Powys it is clear that the one-size-fits-all approach which has been historically adopted by the Welsh Government is not sufficient to meet the County's needs. As such I am pleased to see the Welsh Government listen to the County Council and seriously consider this Growth Zone proposal.

Given that the consultation period ends on 1st June, it is essential that all those with a stake in the economic future of our County take this opportunity to have their voices heard; and help make changes which have a real benefit to us all."
