Welsh Lib Dems welcome progress on Newtown Bypass

2015 Hydref 29 12:16 PM

The Welsh Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that the A483 Newtown bypass has been given the green light.

Commenting on the news that Newtown bypass has been given the go ahead, William Powell, Assembly Member for Mid & West Wales said:

"Newtown has suffered with traffic gridlock for years and this bypass is essential to address that and improve journey times across the region. This is really excellent news for all who live or work in Newtown, as well as for those who pass through.

"I will work with Newtown County Councillors and members of Newtown Town Council to ensure that this historic scheme is delivered to benefit the Montgomeryshire economy - and improve the quality of life locally."

Jane Dodds, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly candidate for Montgomeryshire added:

"This is great news. The Welsh Liberal Democrats have been campaigning for this bypass for many years and we are intent on keeping the pressure up on the Welsh Government to ensure that it finally becomes a reality."
