William Powell AM supports Go Green to help protect rainforest the size of Wales

October 19, 2012 10:22 AM

William Powell, Spokesperson for Environment and Sustainable Development has today pledged his support for Go Green Day - a national day of action by going green in support of rainforest charity, Size of Wales.

The Welsh Liberal Democrats are joining hundreds of people across Wales who are wearing green to raise funds to help protect an area of rainforest the size of our nation.

William Powell, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, said:

"I am more than happy to support Size of Wales' 'Go Green Day', which aims to raise awareness of the importance of rainforest protection, as part of our national response to climate change.

The world's rainforests absorb almost a fifth of the world's man-made carbon dioxide emissions and this project aims to help save an area of rainforest equivalent to Wales, and in turn, inspire other countries to do the same.

Climate change is the biggest challenge facing Wales for the next few generations, therefore every part of Wales, including Mid and West Wales has to play its part to reduce our carbon footprint."
