William Powell AM attends mass protest to protect core services at Withybush Hospital and calls on Health Minister to meet with SWAT
William Powell, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, has joined the Save Withybush Action Team (SWAT) in calling on Hywel Dda Local Health Board and the Welsh Government to retain core services at Withybush District General Hospital in Pembrokeshire.
Following this meeting William Powell AM used the opportunity of oral questions to the Minister for Health and Social Services to request that she meet with SWAT representatives personally to listen to their important concerns.
William Powell said:
"I was very pleased to meet with representatives of SWAT outside the Senedd today, including a number of longstanding clinicians. Their commitment to protecting the essential services which Withybush District General Hospital provides to the people of Pembrokeshire is highly commendable and I am committed to working with them to ensure that their voices are heard by both Hywel Dda and the Welsh Government.
Following today's protest I have called on the Minister for Health and Social Services to agree to meet with SWAT representatives to discuss their concerns. She agreed to do so and I am today writing to her and SWAT to secure a convenient date."
