Welsh Government should increase funding the Wales Air Ambulance

November 8, 2012 1:39 PM

William Powell, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, has called on the Welsh Government to secure full core funding to the Wales Air Ambulance service. Following Wednesday's Welsh Liberal Democrat debate on Ambulance Services in Wales, William Powell said:

"The geography of rural Wales places a significant demand on the Welsh Air Ambulance. Based in Welshpool Airport the Air Ambulance has established itself as a critical part of our emergency response. It is essential that this service is given the support Wales requires and deserves.

Presently, the Welsh Government only funds the craft's paramedics. The Welsh Liberal Democrats and I are continuing to campaign for the Welsh Government to extend this funding so covers all the core services of the Air Ambulance; thus ensuring a secure future for this essential service."
