William Powell AM with Welshpool Mayor and Town Clerk (William Powell AM with Welshpool Mayor and Town Clerk)William Powell AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat for Mid and West Wales, met with Welshpool Mayor Cllr John Meredith and Town Council clerk Robert Robinson FRIC AILCM on Friday to discuss issues facing the town and wider Montgomeryshire in the months ahead.

William Powell AM, said:

"It's always a great pleasure to catch up with the Mayor, Robert and their staff in Welshpool. They run a very impressive operation.

"The Council has been highly effective in recent months in how they have actively engaged with the National Assembly's Environment and Sustainability Committee, and I am sure other Town and Community Councils across Wales can gain a lot from studying their approach.

"Welshpool continues to be the gateway to Montgomeryshire and Mid Wales - as such it is essential that the voice of their Town Council is heard and listened to on all matters relating to our region."

Robert Robinson added:

"I was very happy to meet with William this morning. He was clearly very impressed with the way we do things on Welshpool Town Council and I am always delighted to meet with our elected members to explore ways in which we can collaborate to best represent our constituents at all levels of governance.

"William has been especially helpful in recent months and I look forward to further such meetings in the coming months and years."
