Supporting Liberal Democrats across the Region

Nation of SanctuaryOne of my key objectives when I first put my name forward to be a Regional List Candidate for the 2011 Assembly Elections was to support our Party Members across the Region. Whilst the Liberal voice has been strong in the two Powys Constituencies and in Ceredigion, it had been over 50 years since there had been a Liberal or LIberal Democrat MP or AM in the other parts of the Mid & West Region.

So, my successful campaign and election as an AM in 2011 was a big step forward. Not just for the fact that areas like Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Dwyfor-Meirionydd now have a Liberal Representative, but because I am able to help and support our Local Parties, Councillors and campaigners on the ground. The Party now has a channel through which issues can be researched, questions asked in the Senedd, local advice surgeries held and support given to local campaigning. I am proud of what I have been able to do since 2011.

Welsh Liberal Democrats do not have the large resources that some of the other Parties possess. This is why a committed and capable Regional AM can help to support Local Parties with their activities and campaigning - and help ensure that our limited resources are used as effectively as possible. This is in addition to providing a voice for Liberal and Liberal Democrat Members and voters. I am pleased that I have been able to do this across what is a very large geographical area.

I also see keeping in touch with Party Members as one of the highest priorities. I produce regular Newsletters (both by post and e-mail) and take up numerous issues raised with me by Members. You can download all the Newsletters for the current Year (2015/16). If you have any issues or concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me - full details of how to do this are shown on the Get in Touch Page.
